Avengers: Age of Ultron Official Plot Details – Wakanda, Ant-Man, & Jarvis Confirmed?

Marvel Panel Avengers

About a week after we got our first look at Vision and who he is, Disney has officially released the first plot details of the film. Apparently released because Disney was tired of all the rumors, the plot details more or less confirm almost all of my theories. So thanks for the assist Disney! Though there is one nugget of information that almost no one saw coming – and it is what really has us excited. Anyway, without further to do, the plot details:

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision.

A Global Adventure to Wakanda?:

If you’ve been following my articles thus far, then you already knew most of this. That being said, there are three key parts of this release that point to/confirm some theories we had been running with. For starters, the line “global adventure” confirms that this film is taking place over many different parts of the globe. Though whereas Avengers did as well, the main action took place in New York. Perhaps this time around there will be various spots of larger importance – one of which being the African nation of Wakanda. With new information being revealed about Captain America’s shield breaking and Vision having density altering powers, this would be a perfect time to introduce Wakanda as the land of ‘vibranium’.

Avengers:Age of Ultron to Tie Into Ant-Man?

The next thing we can point out is probably the most important, “Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program”. Some hypothesized that this refers to Project Insight from Captain America: The Winter Soldier; but the phrase “dormant” makes me think it’s a lot older. It’s been revealed that there will be some Post WWII flashbacks with Agent Carter so this program could have something to do with that. Personally, I believe it will tie in to being an early project abandoned by Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man.

Ant-man

Judging by ages and the fact that we know Hank Pym worked with Howard Stark for a while, it’s possible that they were the original architects of the Ultron program and Tony tried to jumpstart it as a means of giving the Avengers some much needed support/time off. Additionally, with Ant-Man being released a few months after Avengers: Age of Ultron, this would be the perfect set up for the film.

All in all, this would be a great way for Ultron to keep its original origin story since in the comics, Ultron was the creation of Pym. Later stories had Ultron as a co-ventured between Stark and Pym, so again this would not only be a great way to set up for the Ant-Man film by referencing its original lead; but also to keep the origin story of Ultron in tact.

JARVIS is The Vision:

In classic Marvel fashion, stay till the very end! Most people overlooked the final paragraph since it just recaps who’s playing what character; but it is the last sentence here that actually confirms our suspicions. The phrase “Meet and old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision” all but confirms that JARVIS is Vision. Considering Paul Bettany plays JARVIS – Tony’s AI program and named after his old butler – this confirms that Vision is indeed connected to JARVIS. Additionally, this explains what Bettany said in an interview about Vision feeling “paternal” to a number of characters, especially Tony.

Vision Age of Ultron 1

Overall it was great to finally get these official words – at the very least to confirm/ reward us for our endless theories and hypothesizing. That being said, GIVE US THE TRAILER! Whether the version released at San Diego Comic Con or a new one, nothing will get fans excited as the first official trailer will. Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr have been hinting at something big coming. Though these might be completely unrelated items – especially since RDJ’s reveal for earlier today turned out to be the second trailer for his other film The Judge. Guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer.
