The A-Dorable Spiderman – Evian Commercial

Even though I usually save all talk of funny commercials for the Superbowl, a new commercial by Evian was just too good to pass up. Much like the puppy and horse Budweiser commercial, we have no idea what this commercial has to do with Evian. Either way, this is the best commercial I’ve seen in a while.

A while back, Evian released a couple commercials of people meeting the baby versions of themselves and then – of course – having a dance off. These videos went viral and even promoted a Baby and Me App that allows you to upload a photo of yourself and then this app will create a baby version of you. Basically, this App is ideal for anyone who has no baby photos of themselves.

Oh my God, he's so cute!!!!!!!!!

Regardless of how this got started – and how superfluous I think the App is – this commercial is absolutely hilarious. In fact, this opens a whole new door for Evian marketing. As I said, making baby versions of real people is kind of superfluous since they could always just use their own baby photos. On the other hand, baby superheroes is a whole new ball game.

This commercial is obviously intended to synergize Evian with the release of The Amazing Spiderman 2, which swings into theaters May 2, but just think of the possibilities if this was to be expanded to other Superhero films. Personally, the idea of a baby break dancing Hulk is just too good to pass up. Or how about Iron Baby?

In the end, Evian took a simple funny idea, then took it a little too far, but finally brought it back to something new and amazing. At the end of the day, that’s what advertising is all about. Still not sure what this has to do with Evian water bottles, but it’s started people talking – good things –; and there’s nothing wrong with that.
