Every year on April 1st – April Fools Day – the Internet is overrun with fake articles and countless other things in an attempt to “get people”. Though a select few will always use this time to ‘get people’ rather then “get people”. Confused? Let me explain. Rather than trick people, some like to give us a little game to play – or a funny call back to our childhoods; and this year is no different with Google Maps’ Challenge to become: A Pokemon Master.
Thats right, just download Google Maps for iPhone or Android, hit search, and then press start. Before you know it you’ll be teleported to the Pokemon Center and begin your journey to catch all 150 Pokemon. Not the originally 150 mind you, but rather 150 chosen from all six generations of Pokemon. As for the Pokemon Centers, these are Google’s Headquarters. Each one will give you a sufficient amount of Pokemon, though the most have been found at their California, New York and Tokyo headquarters.
Paris, Sydney, Las Vegas, Sochi, Easter Island, and countless other places have a Pokemon or two themselves. Although personally, I was hoping to find a Lapras in Loch Ness; or an Arceus at the Vatican.
Apparently if you collect all 150, Google will invite you to take part in a final round of interviews to be hired as their ‘Pokemon Master’. That is probably the April Fools of it – I doubt there’s an actually job. Although that hasn’t stopped many from taking this trip down memory lane – including me. And hey, if one of us gets a job out of this, all the better.
So do you want to be the very best, like no one ever was? Well, get a move on because I’m already at 94/150! Although if anyone finds a location for a Feraligatr, please let me know as he is my all time favorite Pokemon.
UPDATE – March 31st, 722 PM – : All finished. I await my interview google.
