Well the Super Bowl’s over – ok, it was kind of over before half time – but the joy of Super Bowl commercials can last for months. It’s a fine line. Sure you want an eye catching and funny ad, but you have to make sure people remembered what it was advertising. So let’s relive some of our favorites – and memorable – commercials.
5: Budweiser “Puppy Love”
By now you’ve probably seen this commercial 20 times; and whereas we’re still not exactly sure what it has to do with beer, OH MY GOD IT’S JUST TOO CUTE!!!!!! Between the music and the bromance between puppy and horse, it’s just too much to handle.
4: Anna Kendrick’s For Newcastle Brown Ale:
A Super Bowl commercial, that isn’t a Super Bowl commercial. Brilliant! Add in the always beautiful and entertaining Anna Kendrick and you have a simple yet memorable commercial. Although to be fair, all this commercial accomplished was make people love Anna Kendrick more – rather than Newcastle Brown Ale – but hell. Cheers! To Anna Kendrick!
3: Full House Reunion
Admit it! The 90s kid inside of you jumped for joy when you saw the Full House men back together. Poor Uncle Jesse though. Poor, poor Uncle Jesse. In a related story, men everywhere just got a new pick-up routine. Disclaimer: It probably only works for John Stamos.
2: Jaguar – It’s Good To Be Bad:
What do you get when you put Mark Strong (Lord Blackwood from Sherlock Holmes), Tom Hiddleston (Loki from Thor), and Ben Kingsley (The Mandarin from Ironman 3) all in the same place? You get this fantastic commercial explaining why British villains just do it better. Oh yah, and it was related to Jaguar somehow!
1: Stephen Colbert for Wonderful Pistachios:
What’s better than Stephen Colbert in a pistachios commercial? Stephen Colbert in two almost back -to-back pistachios commercials. Why not back to back? Because we can only handle so much awesomeness. Part 1 was good – seriously, they do sell themselves -, but Part 2 was just . . . everything. Much like Seattle, Stephen stole the game.
