So now we can FINALLY put the outrage of How I Met Your Mother‘s series finale aside because the alternate ending has been leaked online; and it is exactly what we wanted all along. Did it fix the whole “you extend a weekend into a season and 15 years into 10 minutes”? No; but the way this ending plays out, you don’t need it to. The ending is succinct, simple and does a wonderful job of recapping the past 9 years. So without further to do, here’s the ending you’ve been waiting for.

The Mother lives! Also, Ted’s moments of tying everything together and recounting all the hardships he’s went through truly put the series in perspective. It’s impossible to watch this video and not feel satisfied. This is how things should have ended and honestly rewards fans for 9 seasons of devotion; rather than just cop out with an ending you wrote almost 10 years ago that no longer fits. As far as I’m – and most fans – are concerned, THIS is the actual ending. That M. Night Shyamalan- esque/make you want to drink profusely other ending shall now be the alternate – and unworthy – ending.

Bravo How I Met Your Mother! This ending truly makes it all worth it and reminds us of why we fell in love with you in the first place. It’s a shame you didn’t use this sooner.
